Understand on the steel vs aluminum, was just curious on the QD vs Fixed part. You typically only see them on guns with back-up irons.
I agree. Need to be replaced- don't belong on a sheep gun. Don't understand the logic of having those at all on a rifle where those levers will snag on alder and will repeatedly bang on rocks and slides. Makes no sense. My sheep gun built by Patrick Holehan has both a wooden and a synthetic stock with 1" and 30 mm rings- neither of which have levers. Those are reserved for my 416 Rigby also built by him.
