They don't have to do anything about it.
They just leave it up to the buyer to figure out what is legit. If a buyer expects something for nothing, they wouldn't be considered a serious buyer in the first place.
But, then the mock scopes get blamed as Leupolds for problems. I suspect many failure claims are these scopes.
