Interesting comments. I am the OP and had zero interest in the gun. But I though t a good buy, guess not in that cartridge.
I have a Shiloh #1 in 45/70 and 50/70. Both are fun to shoot. I have an elk and two antelope with the 45/70 and so far just one feral hog with the 50/70. Sir, you are a distinguished gentleman with fine taste in firearms!  Ed
