Look at the wood before you buy. That almost invariably means GB or some such place. Finding #1's at your local gunstore is tough to do, and if you are waiting on one to come through there, you will probably have a long wait. I have only bought a few #1's without seeing them, and then only because they were NIB and at a ridiculously low price, so nice lumber would only have been a bonus. I have a good number of newer ones that have excellent wood, but I was picky and looked at them first. Good luck.
