I inherited a half a pound of Varget from a co-worker who said none of his rifles liked it. Mine rifles didn't either, so my wife's flower garden got a !/4# for the nitrate. They seemed to like it.
Bingo! That’s been my experience with that powder since it came out. I never understood folks jumping off bridges when they couldn’t find any during the Obama years....
I tried it in 257, 308, 270, 30/06, and a couple more and it never came close to any rifle’s preferred load.
