I listed it just above the picture. It's a JC Higgins 51L in 308. Built around 1959-60, it's a Husky HVA action barreled and stocked by High Standard for Sears. Fairly light weight at under 7 1/2 lbs as shown. When I traded for it the block between the recoil lug and the magazine well had broken loose. I wanted it for the action so that didn't bother me much. What's the old addage, don't shoot the donor? Mainly out of curiosity, I glued and pinned the block back into place, glass bedded it and tried it out. I was getting MOA 3 shot groups with several loads, so I wen't ahead and refinished the stock. It's still a little too glossy for my taste, but looks and handles good. Not too sure I'll get around to building that nice 7X57 I had in mind when I traded for it.
