A tad late but I can tell you from first-hand use of Nikon's Gen 1Vibration Reduction Rangefinder that that is the way to go. I have used the 7iVR for over 2 seasons's now in all kinds of weather and it works. All in hunting situation's where I needed to range game or landmarks. Nikon's new VR rangefinder, The MONARCH 3000 Stabilized is faster and more ergonomic in the hand. I haven't used one in the field but I assure you they are much faster than the 1st Gen model, plus 3000 yards! Definitely worth checking out.
