We thought about an induction unit a few years ago when we needed to replace the range....but, as others have stated, you may need to invest heavily in new cookware just to use it.. There are 'combos', and I thought about that too.. Finally decided on a 5-burner glass top; 3 of which have expanding elements to accommodate different sizes of pans..

There are stand-alone 2-burner induction units that are interesting. Might be just the thing for the times when a large group is over for vittles...and/or one needs some portability..
