Not so much about the cartridge but about the platform. My .45/70 is a older micro groove Marlin with a Leupold 1x4 heavy duplex scope, which is ok for the intended use. But between the basic accuracy and the scope itself, I don't feel comfortable with shots much more than 150 yards max.
