I used shot 2 bison with the 270 gr Core-Lokt and one with the 300 gr Sierra used in Federal's factory load. All three bison died with one shot. Two did not appear to have an exit though I did not have the opportunity to look on the off side. I did not get a chance to look for and recover a bullet as these were animals that escaped from a stock trailer that was involved in an accident and were a danger to traffic and rescue personnel as the animals were scared and confused. The carcasses were impounded by the police and brought to a local processor for salvage per the owner's request. I didn't think to ask the butcher to look for and save a bullet if possible. These were two year old cows.
I would use the Core-Lokts myself, but I lean a little more towards Elmer's way of thinking. I have a couple boxes of the above mentioned Sierras loaded up but haven't shot anything but paper with them. They are a back up load for my back up black bear rifle.
