Probably Cold Spring beer from Minnesota, though this was in the 1970's when I lived in South Dakota for a couple years. Back then you could only buy 3.2 beer in grocery stores. Any higher-alcohol beer had to be sold in liquor stores, for a LOT more money, and I didn't have much money. Cold Spring bottles sold in 12-packs for 99 cents, so I drank it now and then, even though they shorted you with 11-ounce bottles.

Exactly right. I tried Cold Spring one time around 1970 because it was cheap and it was the worst swill that ever crossed my lips. I was at a burger joint in the Twin Cities a few years ago and they had their "own" beer made for them. One sip and I knew it was Cold Spring. Asked the waiter and sure enough, it was made by Cold Spring. Even Pfeiffer beer was better back in the day.
