When I made my last trip to Africa I took my .375 H & H with a 6x and my .300 WM with a 4-12.. Most of the country we hunted was brush... The old advice of a fixed power seem to make sense, so I put a fixed 6x on the .375.. Did not have a fixed 4 x or less... Anyway I carried the .375 a day or so, shot one waterbuck with it, and picked up the .300 for the rest of the hunt... I planned to use the ,375, but the 4-12 made it much easier to find a hole in the thick brush ... Sometimes a spot as big as your hand was the clear path for shooting.. I put a 3-9 Leupold on it when I returned and it has remained there ever since...
