I believe these knives are made out of a hard tool steel. I can't remember if it's M2 or A2. Then chrome plated to keep from rusting.
I have the model called an A425.
A friend and I asked a Gerber rep at the shotshow in about 1995 why they discontinued them. He said they were expensive to make and just didn't sell well enough because of the retail price to keep making.
my friend skinned and quartered an 4x4 elk with a A425 and it would still shave the hair off his arm when he finished.
