A good free-float should help things immensely. Let us know how it acted when you get out again. I got lucky with my factory trigger, but a Timney would have been on my short list. You are definitely heading in the right direction. Your rifle will likely shoot bugholes!

Ive found that with all the model 7s Ive had, I bed the recoil lug and float the barrels and they'll shoot.
I also put another stud closer to the action to get the bipod mounted where the tupperware stock is a little stiffer.
