I have one on a late 50's Savage 99EG in 358 Win. Works great. I am lucky enough to be able to hunt in both open areas and in the brush. Works well for both. I try to keep shots under 150 yards, but that's me.
On another 99 in 300 Savage, I use the M8 6x. It does everything I need it to do. Even have taken a couple deer at 230 yards with no issues.
