So I have a desire I wanna scratch off the list of guns I want.

A day or 2 a year.... generally seem to be the best days...I run into nasty weather conditions that is just brutal on any kind of optics in the deer/bear woods.

I want a peep sight sight, compact fast handling rifle...

A lever gun seems to be a good answer.

I just don't know much of anything about levers. I think I'd be happier with a 16" gun opposed to a 20. But quick browsing seems the 16" guns bring a premium.

I don't need a collector gun. It can be rusted and beat up. I can refinish it or whatever...I can have it rebored if I can get it cheap enough to be cost effective. I wouldn't mind reboring to something "cooler" that hits a little harder than the 30-30 or whatever.

Just don't know what direction to start for finding a gun. What options are for shortening 20" guns?

I just don't wanna have a pile of money in a gun that's some purpose is nasty hunting.

Figured I'm not the first guy to want a short lever without paying collector prices...gotta be options that I'm not aware of.

Thanx!
