I once had a square front bag with a concave top and did not find it steady. The bag rocked forward and back and the forearm rolled side to side. The front bags that grip on both sides like a hotdog bun look more steady, but I have never tried one.

With a gripping front bag does it make sense for the rear bag to be a wedge or with ears. I would be most interested in using the rear bag to adjust elevation with my non shooting hand.
