Just depends on the application. Have you looked in your wife's closet lately at the number of shoes she has?
Sometimes you need a rifle that you can carry long distance and is handy, sometimes weight is not a consideration. Sometimes you need to make longer shots and I am not talking about sniping. Many hunters tend to over emphasize magnification though.
