When I wander into cabelas here in Anchorage right by the bathrooms is a picture of Elmer Keith with a moose and on the antlers is a pre64 model 70. Another iconic picture is of Jack O’Connor laying on a mtn next to his sheep with his pre64 model 70 in a 270. I can only think the model 70 Elmer Keith had was his 333 OKH, or maybe a 338 win mag.

I screwed up put model 20 for Jack O’Connor anyhow when I see those pictures makes me want a pre-64 that one I asked you about I might go get it if it’s still there. As my buddy says model 70’s have soul, they add to the story of a hunt. When one mentions model 70 everyone over the age 40 instantly think of Jack O’Connor.. obviously different time in the 30’s and 40’s when these two iconic men were hunting and what was available.
