Hi Randy - immediately I am curious about the Chet Atkins incident. Can you describe or cite a vid?

Paul, this happened in the 70's and 80's if I remember correctly. Anyway, Atkins had won 3 or 4 CMA Instrumentalist of the Year Awards and then he kinda bowed out, let someone else win.

Clark won the same award for the next 3 or 4 years and then mouthed off (I dont remember the exact words) that nobody could beat him, he was the best.

Atkins took offense to this, you might say, and won the award the next 5 or 6 years in a row. When asked after the 2nd or 3rd award, in this time span, he said he would try to keep on winning for another couple of years, and he did. Then again he kinda bowed out.

Clark might have won another time, I just dont remember.

Clark later admitted that he gotten schooled by Atkins.
