Mini's of that vintage generally had a banded front sight with the ramp made integral to it. https://ruger-mini-14-firearms.com/accessories_img/Front-Sight-OEM-Series-181-199.gifAs long as yours is solidly attached , the rifle will Zero and the front post isn't too thick for the type of shooting you do , it should be fine.
