I have both Lodge and Le Creuset and use both. As far as the France vs. China thing, I have never had pans of any kind that heat as evenly as the Le Creuset does. YMMV, but for those that have cooked with both I doubt it. There is a difference that is very noticeable when it comes to low simmers and sticking to, or scorching the bottom of the pan. If done correctly you can buy some really nice new in box pieces of Le Creuset on eBay for almost half price. I have bought an oval roaster and a dutch oven for less than half price. They are ugly colors, but who cares??
