a few years ago, a certain number of savage enfields surfaced, produced here for the brits circa 1943 or thereabouts. by then they had enough and didn't need them, never went overseas, went into storage. Basically brand new rifles. They were pretty sweet.
mostly, i looked down on enfields, until i reconized my ignorance, and how well they were actually designed.
it's kind of like the garand, you usually see the used up ones, but not those in new condition.
I have a friend that shoot competition in bavaria, he was/is a sniper in the german military.
his comment to me was they prefered an enfield for competition over a mauser they shot better.
a sniper enfield is floating around, i know where it is. original scope matched to rifle, and finished
by Holland and Holland. Probably the best sniper rifle of wwII.
