It's amazing to think that the "pilot" who actually fired that missile could have very likely been sitting right here in the continental US when he pulled the trigger.
The pilot flies it.

You heard partially sometimes right. It depends on who is tasked with the mission as a whole and what the mission is.
The Army utilizes them and does the whole shebang, or he-bang in this case. ;-) They launch 'em, fly 'em, and shoot 'em.
The Air Force may have a launch crew on scene with the pilots and shooters back at Nellis AFB in Nevada.
Sometimes you even have someone on site lasing a target so that the missile, fired from god knows where, will hit the target for sure.
