I have a Marlin 336 Glenfield in 30-30 with an 18in barrel. I used the XS rail but the one that does not have the peep sight. Instead the rifle has a Lyman receiver sight. I mounted a Burris 2x -20mm pistol scope with the same Leopold low mount quick detach rings that you used and added sling swivels.

It's a very handy package.

I really debated the XS rail and peep vs a Lyman or Willams peep. I had a Lyman on a Marlin 1895, and it really shot well. I decided on the XS, as many do, because the scout setup is necessary with the short LOP to reduce the potential for over-the-eye bloodshed. I haven't fired a round with the rifle yet, but I'll load for it this weekend and get it to the range soon.
