I took one of each to Wyoming. Shot my pronghorn and my PA whitetail with the Swede, missed with the .257. But I've taken several deer her with the .257 and had zero issues. The .257 does indeed have very gentle recoil, although you could load the Swede with 100-120gr bullets and be close. That said, I have one Swede and three ,257s, so...
