Neal Boortz retired about 6 years ago. His home station was WSB am 750 in Atlanta. Neal's place was taken by Herman Cain, the black guy who ran for the Republican nomination a few years ago.
So Herman inherited Neal's hard-earned empire of 330 stations. And Herman blew it all. I didn't like him much, he just wasn't very good.
In a few years, Herman's stations went down to 200, then down to 100, finally, four years ago, he was down to 4 stations here in the southeast, had one in Charleston, one in Chattanooga etc.

And then, Herman Cain was gone. No longer on the air.

Neal retired to his beach home in Naples Florida. Also he bought a super RV and he drives around the country and stays at RV parks.
Neal was really good. I knew him. I worked at a hot air balloon manufacturing plant in Atlanta, and Neal had one of our balloons. He used to stop by the shop about once a week on his way to work at WGST am 640. He went out to lunch with us a dozen times, I got to know him because there were just 4 of us working at Mike Adams Balloon Loft.
