Finding originals may be a chore, but making one from a barrel blank is not hard to do for any good gunsmith or machinist. The only thing wrong with making one from a new blank is the lack of stamping. For a "shooter' that is not important, and for collectors value,you would need to get the "correct" barrel of the same contour, length, correct sights and all that -----or you are no batter off with one made by Savage then one made by a gunsmith as far as dollar value goes.
