A lot of "war trophy" (aka stolen) civilian sporters in 8X57 chambering were rechambered by reloaders to 8MM-06 to use GI surplus -06 brass. That eliminated problems with trying to reload Berdan-primed German ammo. My 8MM-06 uses the same load data as .338-06.
