My Grandpa told me he wasn't allowed to practice, shot a 22 mostly. He'd check his trap line on the way to school and put his gun in the corner of the school house. Then he'd hunt his way home for something to eat before chores. Said he shot a lot of partridge, squirrels and rabbit. Killed his first buck with a 303 British, and in 1911 he trapped a wolf that he killed with a 22 and it brought $50 bounty. He bought a Winchester 94 in 32 special for $14 used and gave the rest of the wolf money to his mom. I have the 32 special and still hunt with it every year.
