I would think of the plug in the drain hole first.
That one will only happen once.
You beat me to it. I just got my first boat about a month ago, and my first time out I made that mistake. Luckily I realized my mistake before leaving the dock, but I did have to pull my boat up on the trailer and sit in the parking lot for 10minutes to drain it out before trying again.
