I'm a southpaw, but have been making due with right-handed M16's and AR15's since 1979.

I think it's Rock River Arms and a few others that make lefty versions though if you really want one.



I suppose 'basic' in todays world would be something along the lines of an M4 carbine. 16" barrel, collapsible stock, carbine or mid gas system with front sight base and flat top upper receiver, and a detachable carry handle with rear sight.
