Well dead coons don't lie! In reality though the cheap Savage is accurate and feeds perfectly I just bought it to play with. My varmint hunting is coyotes and hogs mostly at night and I don't see the 17 HMR taking over those chores. I shot a couple cottontails with it and anything other than head shots proved way more destructive than I liked. It is safer to use near the house and only fragments of bullets have exited any of the dumpster raiders so far. I don't have to worry about the cows or horses in the surrounding pastures. I no longer shoot the crows because they keep the hawks occupied instead of scheming on my chickens.
