In the black bear reintroduction program here in Louisiana, some claim you'd better have some teeth marks to show when you cap one of those in self defense. The fines, reportedly are really stiff.
They're a nusiance at the deer camp, tearing up stuff. One hunter was in a tree stand with a bear at the foot of his ladder. He wasn't sure what to do.... Bear finally moved on and this guy came down the ladder gingerly, hot footed it to his ride, made a quick trip to the camp....
At dim light, it's sometimes hard to differentiate a bear from a hog. Gotta be sure before you pull the trigger....
