As I see the problem, the FBI and DOJ would need to get involved. Don't have a lot of faith with those two agencies of upholding the law.
Especially in CYA mode, especially if they think Trump could go down.
They'll hook their wagons to a rising star, sit out a real investigation.
To bureaucrats, protecting their turf is game one, everything else a distant number two.

I wonder about Barr. You'd think having already retired once, he'd have his pension already in the bag, no exposure career wise.
But, those types live and work in D.C. They have their social lives and want to be accepted. I think that's a major issue with John Roberts, the Lolita Express notwithstanding.
The Swamp is BIG. Politicians come and go, Swampers hang around for decades. They tolerate elected politicians, manipulate those they can.
