Well from an old IMR powder catalog PB, SR7625, SR4756 were the powders of choice for low pressure 1100-1200 fps field loads. They did list loads in a AA style hull with Remington R-16 wads which are no longer available. Rem has only made the SP-16 1 1/8oz wad for the last 30 years. The rem " black beauty hull" and older compression formed AA style ww hulls are really the only use for your AA or AA claybuster clone wads as they are.made for tapered hulls. You need bp or precision reloading wads or sp-16 for straight wall hull use for lower pressure loads ot you get to much blow by. Hit the gun shows look for those powders, probably wouldn't hurt to snag any 16 ga. Nitro cards and felt / fiber wads wad you see and older Lyman shotshell loading manuals too. 3rd edn. And older. Most loading data shows pressures in the 9600- 10700psi range for shot cup wads in plastic base wad hulls.
One old ww powder catalog I have shows 1 oz 16 ga loads with Aa style hulls and AA as well as SP16 wads utilizing wsf,540 ,and 571 powders for 1165 fps in the 8300-8700 psi range. That was from a WW1994 powder catalog. Finding the data from old powder catalogs and the Lyman manuals will get you on the road. The factory 2.5" RST loads are spendy but work well under 35 yds. Good luck . MB
