Any group of people gets exactly the level of tyranny from their rulers that they will tolerate, and not a whit more.
What we are continually seeing is the curve of tolerance and the curve of tyranny intersecting in the day's news.
If you want less tyranny, you need to stop tolerating the level of tyranny you are currently experienced.
A very important quote, from a very important document: "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
Nothing in there about any social contract, or supporting the police, or voting Republican to save the day. You get the level of tyranny you are willing to tolerate, and not a whit more.
