I love hunting with cast boolits, as I suspect many of you do too. I know that when I was just getting started, the proper alloy, velocity, mold style, and so on, seemed more of an art form than an exact science.

How about a thread that is dedicated to successful, or maybe not so successful cast bullet performance... and of course, photos always make a thread all the better.

This was from yesterday:

Winchester 94, Canadian Centennial 26" rifle
30-30 rebored to 38-55

Load was Starline brass, CCI 200 primers, 21.0 grains IMR 4198 under a Lyman 375248 sized to .377". 245 grains with air-cooled wheelweight alloy. Lubed with Lyman Alox. Approximately 1,400 fps [1,418 average to be exact].

Shot was right around 40 yards. Buck bounded about 30 yards and fell over. Graveyard dead. Double lung hit. Judging from the entry and exit wound, either the boolit mildly expanded, or the flat nose did its work.
