No matter why the gold screws are there you should have a wonderful shooter there. I used a 2 3/4 X Redfield wide scope on it for years. At 75 yards it was quite fun to surprise squirrels in the good old days. I don't have that habitat to hunt in now. It was the woods where I learned a lot about stalking.
