Next up is the scope. I have several to choose from but doubt if I'll have time today.

Could be a lot of things. I'd try a few jacketed bullets right up against the lands, with the bell taken out of the mouth, and see how they shoot. Check your bore first to see if you've got leading. Cast bullets, if of a hard alloy and too small, will make a right mess, particularly in a rough new bore.
