That’s because the implications were that they would’ve had to have fornicated to produce a baby. Back then even married couples on TV or in cartoons didn’t sleep in the same bed because the inference that they were having sex was just too dirty for TV. Lucy, Ward and June, iirc even the Jeffersons slept in different beds. 😂
