Opened up properly, mostly to the rear, nothing wrong with an M98 FN for the .375 H&H or .375 WBY.
The exalted Pre-'64 Winchester M70 .300 H&H and .375 H&H were done on the .30-06-length M70 action.
I agree with Mike's assessment on the ballistic comparison of the .375 H&H to the .375 WBY.
The lighter the bullet, the less the advantage of the .375 WBY.
The .375 WBY easily does with a 350-grainer (2550 fps to 2600 fps) a little better than the classic .375 H&H with a 300-grainer, MV-wise, and at same pressure.
.375 WBY with a 300-grainer does 2800 fps in a 26" barrel (honest factory ammo claim) or 2740 fps in a 24" barrel.
Fire that .375 H&H factory ammo in a .375 WBY with 24" barrel and you make brass while slowing the 300-grainer to 2400 fps and less recoil.
And it shoots accurately and with useful POI with either H&H or WBY ammo.
Great in a pinch. What's not to like ?
Yep, pretty nice 375.
