I suppose it'd just be stupid to think if the frantic buyers and hoarders took a deep breath and paused for a bit our ammo manufactures could catch up, stores could restock and prices would fall back to normal again.

Yeah they do. Every time this happens they fall back in line once the idiot hoarders burn themselves out.
