Yes, a lot of trophy photos are still taken these days too. Digital photos are easy to take, keep and distribute from anywhere on the planet. Back in the wild west daze, I think pictures were not only a record of what was done, but also it sent out a warning to criminals that we will hunt you down. You can run, but you cannot hide.

Like Bin Laden, for example.
