Maybe ill open this old thing up and take a look at why the non set trigger is so horrendous. Surely it can be adjusted properly and ill get it done.

I wish rifles today had this level of attention where back in the 50's to early 60's it was a given and just the standard. These things feel like a wand compared to any wood stock rifle of recent manufacture.


In addition to being Drilled and tapped, the bolt handle on mine has been lower and the stock cut to fit the bolt handle. It certainly reduces any collector value, but it's a better configuration for hunting. I got it stupid cheap and the work was already done, so I lucked out.

As far as the set trigger, I always use it as designed and never just use the un-set front trigger. It's as natural to me as cocking the hammer on a Marlin. If you really want a nice single trigger just cut the bottom metal out a little and put in a Timney.
