Coal stoves, at least the auto ones are a good way to go if coals available. $200/ load which lasted almost a season. Problem I had was my wife is 5’9” and 95 lbs. She struggled filling the hopper and emptying the ash or forgot. The only downside is if the hopper goes empty and fire doesn’t die it’ll let Carbon monoxide out through the hopper. I had detectors near them but a few to many close calls. If I was home more I’d have them still. Regret not throwing one in the upper garage though.
