I searched a little bit beyond Amazon and found some art store that had better pricing and free shipping at $75 or whatever. Bought a few cans of clear overcoat flat to knock down the sheen.
If I had to guess the $75 purchase of various colors and the clear overcoat did around 20 stocks. So $5 or so in materials each.

There's several different polymers used to make stocks. Safe bet, use an adhesion promoter (like Bulldog) and plastic specific base. Then whatever. Many plastics have release agents in them.
