I have been doing a bit of tinkering on a few takedowns, and made a new "to me" discovery. I took the metal takedown lock assembly off of some forearms and found the serial numbers and model were stamped on the side that butted against the forearm wood !!! 99F serial number and letter F, 99G serial number and letter G, 99K serial number and letter K. On my 2 99D rifles the one in 30-30 with the short barrel had the serial number and the letter R, the one in 300 with the longer barrel had the serial number with the letter S ????? so was there a early model R and S ?????
