If it’s a 79 it probably has a 400 in it. If it’s electrical gremlins it’s probably either the Duraspark box, distributor stator, or the ignition switch. None of these are over $100 or hard to change out.

An old dude I grew up next door to had exactly what you describe except his was a 2 door with white velour. 18 foot long hood and a 5 body trunk. Plenty of room for a three way in the back seat.
