pic. Showing, what appears to be a 3, but when you zoom in on the 03, you can compare and see that it's really a bad stamp, or chipped stamp, and not really a 3! Comparing the 3's are when you can really see the difference! Here's the Problem. The U.S. Government, contracted the Caliber 30-06, hence the 30 GOVT'06! The U.S. Government never contracted the 30-03 as a Government round/Caliber, and there never was a stamp indicating it to be a 30-GOVT'03! Caliber! However the U.S. Did use the 30-03 in the Springfield Rifle, and Replaced the 30-40 Krag Jorgenson Rifle, But there never was a 30GOVT'03 Stamp! Even on the Springfield Rifle it was stamped plainly 30-03!
